Google Local Search App

You already rely on Google's reliable and virtually unlimited search capabilities on your computer and smartphone. Now you can have the same power in your car. Search for any destination on the web and navigate directly to it, or save it for later. Call the number in the listing and see photos of where you're going on the in-dash screen, before you even start your journey.

The GoogleTM Local Search App enables the customer to access Google’s database of millions of POIs (points of interest) near their current location or a future destination, along a route or at other specific locations. This app provides the customer with the ability to view detailed POI search results, save search results, call POI phone numbers (if available), use the POI location as a navigation destination, and view POIs via Google Street View and Panoramio.

To use Google Local Search, the customer accesses Mercedes-Benz Apps by selecting the globe icon on the in-dash screen and then clicking on the Google Local Search App icon on the Main Screen. From there, the customer can select from pre-defined popular searches, search history, or type in a new query. The customer can also select search vicinity (current position, destination, along route or other location). After making their selections, search results from Google are presented and can be used.

AIRMATIC Air Suspension

The AIRMATIC Air Suspension feature is a computer calibrated air suspension that works in concert with ADSII (Adaptive Dampening System 2). The self-leveling air suspension automatically adjusts suspension height to keep the vehicle level regardless of road surface or weight distribution within the vehicle. It features two driving modes via a switch in the center console: COMFORT mode is ideal for leisure driving, automatically adjusting damping for a luxurious ride and will even lower the vehicle height at highway speeds for added stability and better fuel economy. SPORT mode maintains the vehicle at a lower level and calibrates damping to give the driver more road feel.

This system also features a height adjustment button on the center console that enables the driver to manually raise the vehicle level for improved ground clearance or for added load support. This ability comes in handy when encountering deep snow, speed bumps, or other conditions where high ground clearance is desired.

With AIRMATIC you will benefit from a comfortable and confident driving experience, whether the driver is alone in the vehicle or with any combination of passengers and cargo and in almost any driving situation. In turn, the owner is able to take full advantage of the vehicles extraordinary capabilities while always enjoying an unprecedented level of comfort and handling.

Active Blind Spot Assist

Have you ever come close to or actually hit another vehicle because you did not see them in your blind spot? Unless you haven't been behind the wheel of a car, the answer is most likely yes. In 2011 crash management group, Accident Exchange, published a study finding that 6% of all accidents that occurred on the road were due to blind spots. An even scarier figure was that research conducted on 50,000 accidents that took place between 2009 and 2011 showed a 48% rise in blind spot accidents during that time.

Being the leader in safety innovation on the road, Mercedes-Benz is trying to eliminate this problem with our feature Active Blind Spot Assist.

Active Blind Spot Assist will alert the driver to unseen vehicles in the next lane when traveling at speeds above 18 mph. When either of the two sensors in the rear bumper area detects a vehicle to either side, an indicator illuminates in the appropriate side mirror. Should the driver activate a turn signal while the Active Blind Spot Assist is sensing an adjacent vehicle, an audible warning will sound and red-triangle in side-view mirror will flash. If the driver disregards the alerts and begins to change lanes, the system can apply the brakes to to a single rear wheel to help guide the vehicle back to its lane.

Mercedes-Benz Active Blind Spot Assist allows the driver peace of mind knowing that their car is going above and beyond to protect them. It is just one of the many features that that makes Mercedes-Benz the ultimate driving machine.

Bi-Xenon Headlamps With Active Curve Illumination

The optional lighting package offered by Mercedes-Benz of White Plains is quickly becoming a favorite among our customers. The hallmark of this package, the Bi-Xenon headlamps with Active Curve Illumination, has revolutionized the task of driving at night. This feature has made driving in the dark much more enjoyable and safe.

The Bi-Xenon headlamps improve road safety by allowing the driver to see farther down the road as a result of considerably better illumination. Light provided is closer to actual daylight for better illumination over greater distance while easier on the eyes: reduces eye strain and glare.

Taking driving speed and steering angle into account, the Bi-Xenon headlamps swivel their beams up to 15% on curving roads to give the driver a brighter better view of the road ahead, up to a 90% improvement over conventional fixed headlights.

For years driving at night has been a dangerous and daunting task for driver's everywhere. With the lighting package, owners benefit from the superior illumination of Bi-Xenon headlights and added illumination when rounding curves. This adds to the driver's comfort, peace of mind, and driving pleasure.

1936 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster Fetches $11.77M in Auction

While previously considered as a potentially record-setting vintage car, the rare 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster owned by Prussian baroness Gisela von Krieger and her family still managed to snag a pretty sum. The vehicle’s final number at the Pebble Beach auction was $11.77 million.

Gooding & Co. expected the vehicle to shatter the world record for a vehicle’s auction price, with the same auctioneer setting that figure—a cool $16.4 million—with the sale of a 1957 Testarossa last year. Those expectations are based on the rarity of this vintage Mercedes-Benz model, not to mention the fact that this Special Roadster was owned only by a couple of von Krieger nobility.

The auction price is actually $10.7 million with a 10 percent premium, putting the total at $11.77 million. While not as impressive as beating a world record, that figure is certainly nothing to scoff at, and the Mercedes-Benz was still easily the top grosser in the auction.

The event was held right after the Concours d’Elegance auto show.

Mercedes-Benz of White Plains: Mercedes-Benz Safety

For well over half a century, Mercedes-Benz engineers have been devoted to preparing for a moment they hope never occurs. From the invention of the crumple zone to countless innovations in occupant protection and accident avoidance, the safety firsts of Mercedes-Benz often set a standard that all automobiles eventually follow.
Today, a Mercedes-Benz offers exclusive new breakthroughs to help make an accident less severe, less damaging, or even less likely. True to their heritage, they're engineered to protect you in ways you might never have imagined. And with the hope that you'll never have to.
The exclusive PRE-SAFE system can sense that a collision might be imminent, and help prepare for it in the precious moments leading up to it. Using a network of sensors (many of them already serving other safety systems in the vehicle) PRE-SAFE can detect certain conditions that suggest an accident is about to occur, such as extreme skidding. It then tightens the front seat belts, adjusts the front head restraints and passenger seat, and can even close the windows and sunroof, all to better prepare the occupants for more effective results from the restraint systems.
Even a moment of driver distraction can have life-changing results. With DISTRONIC PLUS, advanced radar sensors vigilantly scan traffic ahead for stopped or slowing traffic. If the system senses that a collision is imminent, its PRE-SAFE Brake feature automatically initiates up to 40% braking power, audibly alerts the driver, and engages the PRE-SAFE system. When the driver brakes, 100% braking pressure is instantly applied. And should the driver fail to respond, the system can apply full braking on its own, serving as an "electronic crumple zone" to help reduce the intensity of a collision.
Even in the most exciting vehicle, a long journey can bring about driver fatigue. An industry first, ATTENTION ASSIST takes note of over 70 parameters in the first minutes of a drive to get to know your unique driving style. As your journey continues, it can detect certain steering corrections that suggest the onset of drowsiness. It then considers a wide array of other factors, from crosswinds and road smoothness to how often you're interacting with the vehicle's controls and switches. If it all adds up to driver fatigue, ATTENTION ASSIST sounds an alert encouraging you to stop for a rest.
Danger can come from any direction. Blind Spot Assist goes a step beyond your side mirrors. When radar sensors in the rear bumper detect that a vehicle is alongside yours, a red icon lights up in the side mirror to let you know. If you signal for a lane change, an alert sounds. With Lane Keeping Assist, a special camera watches the markings on the pavement as you drive. If it senses that you're drifting out of your lane, it vibrates the steering wheel. And with either system, advanced active technology can apply the brakes on one side of the vehicle, to help guide you back into your own lane.
Rather than waiting for new laws or other automakers, Mercedes-Benz engineers are devoted to inventing, investigating and continually improving the systems that often become the standard of the industry. It comes from a holistic approach that seamlessly integrates every aspect of driving: not just safety but also performance, comfort, human behavior and the laws of nature. More importantly, it comes from sharing good ideas with the rest of the world, so that every driver on the road can benefit. Making history, after all, is really about changing your future.

Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet in the works

According to a recent report stemming from the UK, Mercedes are looking to expand the S-class lineup with a four-door cabriolet model. The new variant will join the regular sedan along with a new long wheelbase version that replaces the Maybach and a two-door S-class coupe that replaces the current CL-class.
The source of the information is Dr Uwe Ernstberger, Mercedes program manager for the S-Class. “The S-Class is the best luxury car in the world, and we have many surprises in terms of technology for the new model,” he said. “It will deliver something very different to its rivals – and it will have a much broader range.”
The new four-seat cabriolet will draw its inspiration from the Mercedes Ocean Drive Concept that was originally unveiled to the world back in 2007.
